The Open Network Index (ONI) – Evaluating CSP Openness Across RAN, Core and Edge
Open networks present tremendous potential for Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and research consistently finds that CSPs are embracing open network principles. Yet for those CSPs that have developed open networking strategies and the corresponding business cases to support cloud transformation, technical implementation of open network architectures and operating models still presents challenges.
To help understand this gap, Analysys Mason, in collaboration with Dell Technologies, surveyed 50 Tier 1 operators worldwide to benchmark progress towards open networks. Their findings form the new Open Network Index (ONI) report, which measures CSPs on their network modernization progress from both an open vision/operational strategy perspective and technical execution maturity perspective.
Join us to discuss key takeaways from the ONI and a wide range of issues, including:
- Open network adoption levels in the mobile core domain
- RAN and network edge transformation progress
- The adoption of do-it-yourself (DIY) and public cloud provider (PCP)-led cloud stacks
- Addressing skills gaps and operational silos
- Action steps to accelerate network transformation
